Pre- Primary Section –An Overview
Most of our students spend 14 years of their lives in this institution. Whether they continue their education here or elsewhere, their first schooling experience should be one that creates in them a love for learning and an eagerness and enthusiasm to come to school each morning.
Bearing this in mind, our pre-primary department provides the tiny tots with an atmosphere of love, care and security, thus giving them a home away from home.
The Pre-primary department consists of the Lower Kindergarten (3 ½ years – 4 ½ years
and Upper Kindergarten (4 ½ years to 5 ½ years).
Areas of learning and Skill development
Home being the first learning ground, the little ones come with reasonably good communication skills in their mother tongue. A transition from this to English is a challenging phase for the teacher and her ‘taughts’. Areas of learning comprise phonetics, vocabulary, recognition of numbers , their values, logical association of numbers, pattern writing to teach letter and number formations etc. ( A complete syllabus has been included for you to have a full picture of the curriculum)
Apart from these areas of learning, a lot of stress is given to teaching many vital life skills such as good habits, discipline, social skills, adjusting to a new environment, love and respect for one’s school and country, caring for our environment etc.
Colouring, Play dough (clay modeling), collage work, finger printing, vegetable printing, building blocks, paper craft , Healthy Breakfast Week etc are some of the activities. These activities help develop eye- hand co-ordination and other motor skills apart from equipping them to think, create, imagine, and design.
Class Assembly forms a major platform for the little ones to develop and build their confidence and to get over their stage fright. This being a whole class presentation of music, dance, story recitation and much more, teaches them team work and co-operation. Presentation of musical plays such as HANSEL AND GRETEL and Pied Piper of Hamlin have been major projects undertaken by the pre-primary section.
Strong Bonds – Strong foundations
Pre- primary years being the first lap of their scholastic journey of 14 years, we do our utmost in providing the tots with the best possible training. The KG section is a very vibrant community where strong relationships are built between the teachers and the children as well as between the home and school. Our very caring and committed teachers of this section help lay deep and strong foundations in the lives of these little ones whom they very fondly call ‘little angels’.
